Derbyshire – winter 2017

Introduction

After Christmas we went, together with my parents, to visit my brother and his family in Belper, Derbyshire.

Belper

Belper is a rather pretty town, especially in the sun.

It has a building with an outside door on the first floor…

…and very nice houses and road signs.

Beeley

The next day started less sunny, but to compensate, it snowed – not in Belper, but nearby. My brother drove us to a village called Beeley for a short walk, with one of his children (the other one wasn't feeling well) and a plastic sledge.

We basically walked along a footpath up a hill, then back down again.

Having reached roughly the top of the hill, we turned around to go back again. There was also a bit of sledging along the way (mainly the sliding downhill sort, not the insulting sort).

The sun comes out - sort of.

Caudwells Mill

We got back in my brother’s car and he took us to Caudwells Mill, in another village called Rowsley. This is notable for its very nice tearoom, where we had lunch to end the morning.
