Browsers and JavaScript

This forum software works best with JavaScript enabled. When JavaScript is disabled, or your browser doesn't support the required features, Hazel displays a line of information at the bottom of each page.

You can continue to use Hazel without JavaScript support, but enabling it gives a significantly better interface. In particular it allows you to reply to posts, and expand individual posts you want to see, directly within the 'thread' screen without having to go to another page.

Supported browsers

These features work with most modern browsers. They will not work with old browsers (such as Internet Explorer 5), or limited browsers (such as those on portable devices or game consoles).

We have tested on the following browsers:

• Firefox 2.0 (cross-platform)
• Safari 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Technical detail

Hazel Forums enables JavaScript features for all browsers that support 'AJAX' (XMLHttpRequest) facilities. It is possible that some browsers which claim to support AJAX will fail in some other respect. We intend to add such browsers to an exceptions list as they are discovered.
